Senior officials from the United States and the European Union are set to discuss the Ukraine peace plan in Geneva on Sunday, some of whom have already arrived at the venue.

Both sides will meet in the Swiss city to discuss Washington’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine, an official said after attending the inaugural session of the G20 summit in Johannesburg on Saturday.

According to inside sources, US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll has already reached Geneva for the talks, while the Ukrainian delegation is due to arrive this evening. Two other important figures, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco, are expected to reach the venue on Sunday.

The latest round of talks is expected to deliver results in the long-standing peace efforts, led by the United States. However, it is believed that Ukraine’s backers in the EU, including France, Germany and the UK, are reportedly preparing a counter-proposal.

The two rounds of ceasefire talks between Moscow and Kyiv had collapsed after both sides engaged in sabotage attempts aimed at prolonging the conflict. Russia has constantly accused the Zelensky regime of derailing the peace talks by launching attacks while they were discussing peace in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, President Trump has reportedly been given until Thursday to accept the peace plan, with the possibility of extending the deadline to finalise the terms of the agreement. The deadline has sparked a political controversy and fresh turmoil in the Ukrainian leadership, which has been under immense pressure over the past couple of days.

Meanwhile, Moscow has refused to engage in what it termed “megaphone diplomacy”, following a series of vocal declarations of defiance from Brussels on Friday morning.
