In a rare moment, the United States has joined the UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli attacks on Qatar’s capital, Doha.
The Security Council members condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar and urged all sides to seize the opportunity for peace while indirectly mentioning the state of Israel. In a statement issued by the Council members, they expressed their condemnation of the recent strikes in Doha, the territory of a key mediator, on September 9.
It said that the “member states deeply regret the loss of civilian life in the attack.” "Council members highlighted the importance of de-escalation and expressed their solidarity with Qatar," it added.

The statement further added that "Council members acknowledge the role and efforts of mediation that the state of Qatar was playing to de-escalate the situation in Gaza and find a lasting peaceful solution with the efforts of Egypt and the United States."
It also said that the release of hostages and prisoners detained by Hamas and Israel remains a crucial point that needs to be solved by both sides. Ending the suffering in Gaza remains the top priority of the Security Council.
