The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is on an official state visit to Israel, while the Arab League is convening a meeting in response to Israeli attacks on Doha last week.
The recent developments in the region, particularly with Israel striking one of the mediators in Gaza ceasefire talks, have raised serious concerns of the regional countries over the credibility of the Israeli regime backed by Washington.
The Qatari Prime Minister Muhammad Bin Abdul Rehman Al Thani said, “The actions were illegal under international law; Israel cannot attack a peace delegation, regardless of who they were.”
He said, “Qatar won't tolerate such nonsensical and illegal actions,” adding that Doha will respond to protect its sovereignty. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the leader of the Gulf nations, issued a statement condemning the Israeli actions.
The Riyadh leadership is already losing its patience with the way Israel is threatening the regional peace. Saudi leader Mohammad Bin Salman has said that Israel crossed the red line by attacking Qatar; this won't be allowed in any case.

Meanwhile, the US has sent its top diplomat, Marco Rubio, to assess the situation on the ground, in the backdrop of Monday’s Arab League Summit. Rubio has expressed the United States' support for Israel despite a recent feud between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the strikes on Qatar.
The Trump administration denied having any prior information of the attacks, though Qatar and Saudi Arabia, along with Iran, find it difficult to believe that the US didn’t know anything. The Qatari UN representative said, after the attack, “Doha feels betrayed,” and these collaborative attacks have forced the administration to make a course correction.
The region is witnessing a chaotic situation since the attack, while the Arab League has also threatened to take decisive steps against the Israeli regime. The agenda for today’s meeting will be focused on limiting and restricting the aggressive policies perceived by Tel Aviv in the region.
