US President Donald Trump has said that his country will continue to deliver the halted weapons aid supply to Ukraine, a week after the Pentagon suspended weapons deliveries. This comes at a time when the annual BRICS summit was held in Brazil’s Rio De Janeiro and the bloc indirectly condemned US actions against Iran while calling Israel’s actions in Gaza condemnable.
Trump again switched his position on Ukraine, saying, “We’re going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard now.”
Trump’s stance shifted after he believed that Ukraine was losing the battle against Russia. He said, “We are going to give them Defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard.”
His comments were later confirmed by Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, who said that the US will send “additional defensive weapons to Ukraine.”
Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered a pause in deliveries last week, citing concerns about dwindling US stockpiles.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told reporters that “The decision was taken to put America’s interest first after a review suggested that the US’s own stockpile was dwindling.”
Earlier last week, she said sending weapons to everyone around the globe was not in the interest of her nation, and therefore, “we are carefully reviewing all outbound weapon shipments.”
Ukraine has been growing immensely impatient over the restrictions imposed by the United States, especially on the patriot air defence system, following the latest Russian offensive in Sumy and Odessa.
