A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck northwest Venezuela on Wednesday.
The agency reported that the epicentre was located 15 miles (24 kilometres) east-northeast of the community of Mene Grande in Zulia state, more than 370 miles (600 kilometres) west of the capital, Caracas. The depth was measured at 5 miles (7.8 kilometres).
Venezuela’s government did not immediately release information on the earthquake. Residents reported feeling tremors across several states, as well as in neighbouring Colombia.
Many people evacuated homes and office buildings near the border, though no damages were immediately reported in either country.
