Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar reached Tehran on Wednesday to attend an official ceremony to pay condolences on the death of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a helicopter crash on Sunday, MEA officials said.
He was received by Iranian authorities on his arrival in Tehran today. "VP Dhankhar will attend the official ceremony to pay condolences on the demise of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister H. Amir-Abdollahian, of Iran," a post said on the Vice President's X account.
Meanwhile, the coffins carrying Iran’s late president and other officials killed in Sunday’s crash arrived in Tehran’s Freedom Square, where thousands congregated to pay their respects.
Raisi will be buried in his hometown Mashhad and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will be buried in southern Tehran.
