During his three-day visit to Laos, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar revealed a special commemorative stamp set featuring Ram Lalla’s idol from Ayodhya.

This stamp is being heralded as the first in the world to honour Lord Ram’s Ayodhya idol.

Jaishankar announced the unveiling on social media platform X, stating, “Launched a special stamp set celebrating our shared cultural treasures of Ramayana and Buddhism.”

The stamp set comprises two stamps: one depicting the Ayodhya idol of Lord Ram, and the other, Lord Buddha.

Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos, Saleumxay Kommasith, Jaishankar expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended during his visit.

He posted, “A good meeting with DPM and FM Saleumxay Kommasith of Lao PDR. Thanked him for the warm hospitality.”

Jaishankar is in Laos to participate in the Foreign Ministers’ Meetings under the ASEAN framework, marking a decade of India's Act East Policy.

He highlighted the signing of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) under Mekong Ganga Cooperation.

He stated, “Witnessed exchange of MoUs on 10 Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) for Laos under Mekong Ganga Cooperation and cooperation in sharing successful Digital Solutions.”

During his call on Lao PDR Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Jaishankar raised the issue of trafficking of Indian nationals through cyber scam centres. He appreciated the ongoing cooperation of the Lao government in the rescue and relief of Indian citizens affected by such scams.

“Appreciate the ongoing cooperation of the Laos government in the rescue and relief of our citizens. Also discussed the matter with the Foreign Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand,” he said.

Additionally, Jaishankar met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during the ASEAN meeting, where they discussed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and past agreements on disengagement at the border.

In a separate meeting in Tokyo, Jaishankar engaged in "wide-ranging" discussions with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a gathering of QUAD leaders.
