Campaigning ends for 43 assembly seats in Jharkhand

Campaigning for 43 Assembly seats in Jharkhand's first-phase polls, scheduled for November 13, concluded on Monday, with 683 candidates, including six Cabinet Ministers, family members of notable leaders, and 73 women candidates, contesting across 73 constituencies.

Campaigning for 43 Assembly seats in Jharkhand's first-phase polls, scheduled for November 13, concluded on Monday.


High-voltage election campaigning concluded at 5 p.m. on Monday across 43 seats for the first phase of Assembly polls in Jharkhand. Polling for the first phase will be conducted on November 13 in the state.

 

In this first phase, six Cabinet Ministers of the present government, including former Chief Minister Champai Soren, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Ramdas Soren, Banna Gupta, Mithilesh Thakur, Deepak Birua, and Baidyanath Ram, are contesting the polls.

 

Key candidates in this phase include family members of notable leaders: former CM Raghubar Das's daughter-in-law, Purnima Das; former CM Champai Soren's son, Babulal Soren; and Cabinet Minister Satyanand Bhokta's daughter-in-law, Rashmi Prakash.

 

Overall, 683 candidates are competing in the first phase, with 334 running as independents. Among these, 87 candidates represent national parties, 32 are from Jharkhand-based recognised parties, 42 hold tickets from recognised parties of other states, and 188 belong to unrecognised registered parties.

 

This phase also includes six seats reserved for SC and 20 for ST candidates.

 

The first phase will also witness the participation of 73 women candidates, including 34 independents. Additionally, third-gender candidate Nagma Rani is vying for a seat as an independent from Hatia.

 

The first phase of polls will be conducted in Koderma, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Simaria, Chatra, Baharagora, Ghatshila, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Ichagarh, Seraikela, Chaibasa, Majhgaon, Jagannathpur, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur, Kharsawan, Tamar, Torpa, Khunti, Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke, Mandar, Sisai, Gumla, Bishunpur, Simdega, Kolebira, Lohardaga, Manika, Latehar, Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Chhattarpur, Hussainabad, Garhwa, and Bhawanathpur.
