Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave the credit of the INDIA block’s convincing victory in the Assembly polls to the people of Jharkhand after the results were declared on Saturday.

Soren posted a video of his press conference on ‘X’ with the caption “Jharkhand has won." He thanked the people of Jharkhand for believing in the alliance once again and promised to fulfil their aspirations.

“You played an important role in strengthening democracy. I express my gratitude to all those who were in the electoral fray in this competition and those who worked to bring the power of democracy to the masses,” he said.

“The complete result is awaited. We will take further action after the result is declared. The performance of the India alliance has been very good. We have won about 56 candidates. The NDA alliance has won 24. We have won equal to two-thirds,” said Soren.

He further said that there is news of recounting at some places and marginal decisions are expected at some places. “The history of the Abua Raj Abua government is going to be created in Jharkhand. I think you must have seen such an election for the first time. We have passed the test of such democracy. Many thanks to all of you from my side,” he added.

Earlier, Soren went to the airport to receive his wife and newly elected MLA Kalpna Murmu Soren, who won the Gandey seat, defeating the BJP's Muniya Devi.

The Hemant Soren-led INDI Alliance is leading on 56 out of 81 Assembly seats in Jharkhand. The JMM alone was leading on 34 seats, Congress on 16, RJD on 4, and CPI (ML) on two seats.

The alliance is set to form the government in the state with a comfortable margin of seats. In the 2019 elections, the JMM had won 30 seats, Congress had won 16 seats, and the RJD and CPI (ML) had won one seat each.
