Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty led an impressive roadshow on Monday in East Singhbhum district, campaigning for BJP candidate Meera Munda in the Potka constituency.
Meera Munda, wife of former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, is contesting against incumbent JMM MLA Sanjeev Sardar. The roadshow, which passed through Gopalpur, Rakhamines, and Jadugora, attracted a significant crowd eager to see the Bollywood icon, with a notable presence of women among the spectators.
Chakraborty later headed to Dahigora Circus Maidan in Ghatsila, where he addressed a rally to support BJP candidate Babulal Soren, son of former Chief Minister Champai Soren.
Speaking to the assembled crowd, Chakraborty, who appeared with a fractured hand, said, "Despite my injury, I am here because of your love and affection. However, I regret that I cannot spend much time with you today."
The actor assured supporters he would return to the region if the BJP comes to power. "If you want a miracle to happen, vote for BJP," he urged.
Polling for the 81-seat assembly is set for November 13 and 20, with counting scheduled for November 23.
