As 2024 comes to a close, Swiggy Instamart's year-end report offers a look into the latest trends and consumption patterns from its delivery platform. The data, collected from January 1 to December 1, 2024, reveals interesting insights into the food and shopping habits of users.
One major highlight from the Swiggy Instamart report is that Delhi residents spent around Rs 60 crore on instant noodles this year through the quick commerce platform. The city also topped the charts for ordering the most potato chips in 2024.
Other cities had their own food trends. Mumbai led in onion orders, followed by Hyderabad and Delhi. On December 1, people across India ordered 4500 kilos of onions between 7-8 pm. Mumbai also made headlines for ordering over Rs 8 lakh worth of tonic water on a single day via Swiggy Instamart.
In terms of popular food items, Swiggy Instamart revealed that milk, curd, dosa batter, chips, and soft drinks were the most ordered. The report showed that one in every 15 orders included a packet of milk, and one in every five had either fruits or vegetables.
On Raksha Bandhan 2024, Swiggy Instamart recorded 2,85,000 deliveries using its 'order for others' feature, with about 273 chocolates ordered per minute.
The fastest delivery of the year was also shared in the report. An order of nendran bananas and red amaranth took just 89 seconds to deliver, covering a distance of 180 meters.
Swiggy Instamart also noted some festive shopping trends, such as over Rs 45 lakh spent on brooms during Dhanteras and nearly 8 lakh rakhis delivered on Raksha Bandhan.
This year’s food trends and unique deliveries highlight the growing popularity of Swiggy as a food delivery platform and an instant delivery app, making it a key player in the food delivery and quick commerce industry.
