Security personnel try to manage a rush of devotees who arrive to take a holy dip at the Sangam on the 'Makar Sankranti' festival, during the Mahakumbh Mela, in Prayagraj on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025.

Devotees braved the biting cold on Wednesday to take a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh at Triveni Sangam with chants of 'Har Har Mahadev', 'Jai Shri Ram', and 'Jai Ganga Maiyya' echoing through the air.

Nibar Chaudhary, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, shared his experience: "It was for the first time that I took a dip in Sangam. After taking the dip, I really felt refreshed."

He was accompanied by two persons as he made his way towards the Sangam area.

Shivram Verma, who was with Chaudhary, praised the arrangements made by the administration for devotees. Lucknow resident Nancy also expressed her satisfaction, saying, "My experience in the Maha Kumbh has been good so far."

Abhishek from Fatehpur district described the overall experience as positive, adding, "I did not face any problems."

Kanpur resident Vijay Katheria lauded the security arrangements, highlighting the adequate police force maintained for the safety of devotees.

On Tuesday, seers from various 'akharas' participated in the first 'Amrit Snan' on the occasion of 'Makar Sankranti', with around 3.5 crore devotees taking a dip at Triveni Sangam.

Naga sadhus performed mesmerising demonstrations of traditional weaponry and rituals.

The present edition of the Kumbh is being held after 12 years, though seers claim the celestial permutations and combinations are taking place after 144 years, making the occasion particularly auspicious.

The mela will continue until February 26.
