Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav has announced plans to open 10 new AYUSH institutes over the next five years in a bid to expand India’s traditional medical systems.
The Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Health made the announcement on Friday during a visit to the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA).
Jadhav inspected the AIIA campus and reviewed the facilities and treatments offered to patients, according to a statement from the AYUSH Ministry.
During his address, Jadhav reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of bringing Ayurveda to every household.
"Ayurveda and our traditional medical systems suffered greatly during the colonial era and foreign invasions," Jadhav said. "However, global perceptions are shifting, and there is increasing acceptance of Yoga and Ayurveda."
The minister also revealed that the President of India has expressed interest in visiting the institute, and that his visit was to review preparations for this potential visit.
Professor Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, thanked Jadhav for his continued support, stating that his efforts have been crucial in promoting Ayurveda both in India and on the global stage.
