11 'Pakistani spies' held in India: From YouTuber to student

During the investigation, Jyoti Malhotra informed the police that she had visited the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in 2023 to apply for a visa, where she met a man identified as Ahsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish.

The 11 arrested individuals had allegedly spied for Pakistan's spy agency ISI and shared sensitive information related to India's national security and military.

In the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian security agencies, including police and intelligence units, have intensified their crackdown on espionage networks. As part of this effort, at least 11 individuals have been arrested across three northern states — Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh — for allegedly spying for Pakistan.

Among those arrested is Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, accused of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani handlers and maintaining ongoing communication with a Pakistani national identified as Danish.

Jyoti Malhotra allegedly developed as a Pakistani asset

According to Hisar Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan, Malhotra was being cultivated as a Pakistani asset and maintained connections with both Pakistani nationals and other Indian YouTubers.

“She was in touch with other YouTube influencers, and they were also in contact with the Pakistan Information Officers (PIOs). She used to go to Pakistan, like on sponsored trips. She was in Pakistan before the Pahalgam attack, and the investigation is ongoing to establish any possible linkages,” said SP Sawan.

Malhotra runs a travel YouTube channel named Travel with JO and had reportedly visited Pakistan at least twice in 2024. Police allege she came into contact with a man named Ahsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission. She has been charged under various provisions of the Official Secrets Act for allegedly transferring sensitive Indian military information.
