February 4 was World Cancer Day. The day was celebrated in a unique way in Gujarat drawing substantial public attention and creating very high awareness among citizens.
Thirteen people who themselves suffered from cancer took up this one-of-a-kind expedition across the Arabian Sea, between the two most important religious destinations of the Hindu religion.
These 13 cancer warriors, including seven men and six women, started their Kayaking journey through the sea from Devbhumi Dwarka.
On their pathway, they stopped by at 10 ports to create awareness among locals there for cancer. They also spread the message about the negative effects of having addictions.
The warriors reached the coast of Somnath on Tuesday morning. Members of Somnath Trust celebrated their arrival by giving a warm welcome.

However, the adventure was anything but easy for these warriors. The first major hurdle came at 200 meter from the Okha coast when all the boats capsized one after the other.
While all of them tried to reach for safety by swimming their way out, they saw that the rescue boat also started sinking.

The Somnath Trust played a great host by supporting the warriors with a very high level of hospitality. The warriors were provided food and accommodation by the Somnath Trust.
The warriors appreciated the activities of Somnath Trust led by their Chairman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who himself is a global leader.

The warriors also performed the special ‘Dhwaja Puja’ at the Somnath Temple.
It was a terrifying experience for the warriors with several struggles on the way like relentless tides, sea sickness and boats capsizing regularly. But, the warriors with their tremendous spirit completed the adventure like a champion.
