Jharkhand police have delivered a powerful blow to Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) this year, significantly curtailing the influence of Maoist factions across the state.

This aggressive nine-month campaign, spanning January through September 2025, has severely weakened the organisational structure and financing of militant groups.

Inspector General (Operations) Dr Michaelraj S. said in a press conference today that security forces neutralised 32 Maoist operatives and successfully apprehended 266 others in continuous anti-Naxal operations.

This included the capture of several high-profile insurgents who had substantial rewards on their heads.

The sustained operations successfully disrupted the insurgents’ supply lines. Forces recovered a massive arsenal, seizing 157 firearms—including 58 stolen police weapons and nearly 12,000 rounds of ammunition.

Several kilograms of explosives, almost 19,000 detonators, and illicit “levy” money were also confiscated.

In a concerted effort to dismantle their infrastructure, police demolished 37 hideouts and safely defused 228 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted across forested areas, dramatically reducing the threat of ambushes.

The combined pressure from security operations and the government’s rehabilitation scheme yielded another victory: 30 Maoists voluntarily surrendered. This group included several key figures, such as Zonal Commander Ravindra Yadav, signalling weakening morale within the extremist ranks.

In a parallel effort, the Jharkhand Police also intensified action against cybercrime in August and September. They registered 128 cases and arrested 105 accused.

Leveraging the Dial-1930 Cyber Helpline, authorities managed to freeze ₹7.42 crore linked to online fraud, refunded ₹37.28 lakh to victims, and used the ‘Pratibimb’ App to dismantle multiple digital crime syndicates.
