On the second day of the Parliament’s Winter Session, the Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that of the 1.41 crore depositors of Sahara Group Cooperative Societies, 35.44 lakh had been disbursed ₹6,841.86 crore.
“The Ministry is taking all possible steps for payment to the genuine depositors...,” he said.
Presently, a payment of up to ₹50,000 is disbursed to each genuine depositor of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies against verified claims through Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts after they submit applications through the Sahara Refund and Re-submission Portals.
The Supreme Court has extended the time till December 31, 2026 for disbursement to the genuine depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies. The disbursement process is guided by the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and amendments made to it from time to time.
The minister further said all applications received on the portal are being processed in a transparent manner after thorough identification checks and on the submission of proof of depositor’s identity.

In case of any deficiency found in the application of the depositor on the portal, they’re asked for resubmission of their application through the “Re-submission portal” launched on November 15, 2023.
Following the apex court order dated March 23, 2023, the CRCS-Sahara refund portal – https://mocrefund.crcs.gov.in – was launched for submission of claims by the genuine depositors of four multi-state cooperative societies of Sahara Group, namely; Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Lucknow, Saharayn Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd., Bhopal, Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Kolkata; and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd., Hyderabad for refund of their legitimate deposits.
The entire process of disbursement is digital and paperless and is being carried out under the supervision and monitoring of Justice R Subhash Reddy, former Supreme Court judge, with the assistance of amicus curiae Gaurav Agrawal.
Govt to launch ride-hailing mobility app, ‘Bharat Taxi’
Shah announced on Tuesday that the government plans to launch a ride-hailing mobility app, ‘Bharat Taxi’, that aims to free the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependency on private companies.
The digital app would be operated by the Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd, a multi-state cooperative society, registered under the MSCS Act 2002 on June 06, 2025, the Cooperation Minister said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
“Yes, the government proposes to launch a cooperative-led digital app mobility platform which will support to free the country’s commercial vehicle drivers from dependency on private companies,” he said.
The app would feature user-friendly mobile ride booking, transparent fare, vehicle tracking, support for multi-lingual interfaces and 24/7 customer services to enhance accessibility, secure and verified onboarding, inclusive mobility, tech-enabled support and safety measures to the citizens, it was stated.
Furthermore, with the zero commission model, drivers will get full earnings from each ride and profit of the cooperative society will be distributed directly to drivers.
A transparent pricing model will be beneficial to both drivers and passengers, he added.
