The Union government on Saturday proposed an allocation of ₹41000 crore to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the fiscal year 2025-26.
As part of fund transfers for the Union Territories, the Union finance ministry proposed an allocation of ₹41000.07 crore to Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory in the Union Budget for 2025-26.
Of ₹41000.07 crore allotted to J&K, ₹40619.30 crore has been kept as central assistance for J&K to bridge its resource gap, documents reveal.
As per budgetary documents, ₹279 crore have been proposed to be allocated as grants towards contribution to the union territory Disaster Response Fund ₹101.77 crore to meet resource gap funding for infrastructure projects.
According to these documents, the financial assistance for Jammu & Kashmir for the ongoing fiscal year has been revised to ₹41000.07 crore from ₹42277.74 crore.

Meanwhile, the Government of India has allocated ₹9325 crore for the Jammu & Kashmir Police, which is under the administrative control of the Union Home Ministry, in the Union Budget for 2025-26.
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) demands for 2025-26, ₹9325.73 crore has been allocated to the J&K Police in the Union Budget.
Of this amount, ₹8897.72 crore has been earmarked for the revenue expenditure and ₹428.01 crore for the capital expenditure.
