The national capital has been placed under stringent security measures for Republic Day celebrations, with over 70,000 police personnel and 70 companies of paramilitary forces stationed across the city to ensure safety.

In New Delhi district alone, a six-layered security protocol involving 15,000 personnel has been implemented, police said.

This includes the installation of over 2,500 CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition and video analytics, alongside anti-drone systems covering a four-kilometre radius to detect and neutralise aerial threats.

Snipers have been positioned on rooftops, while more than 200 buildings along the parade route have been secured, with windows facing the route locked down.

“Anti-sabotage checks, SWAT teams, and quick reaction teams have been deployed at strategic locations across the city,” a senior police officer stated.

Traffic restrictions are in place, particularly in central Delhi, with movement around Kartavya Path and adjoining areas curtailed since Saturday evening.

The parade, commencing at Vijay Chowk, will traverse Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhas Marg, before culminating at the Red Fort. A related function will also be held at the National War Memorial.

"No cross-traffic will be allowed at key intersections on Kartavya Path from 10 pm on Saturday until the parade concludes,” the officer added.

To enhance safety, flying sub-conventional aerial platforms, such as drones, paragliders, and microlight aircraft, has been prohibited over Delhi until February 1.

Further, heavy transport and light goods vehicles from other states will not be allowed entry until the conclusion of the parade.

For public convenience, booths for missing persons, helpdesks, and first-aid kiosks have been established, alongside stations where visitors can safely deposit vehicle keys.

Metro services remain operational throughout Delhi, providing uninterrupted access to commuters.
