At least 75 countries are set to sign the ‘Delhi Declaration’ at the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026, marking a major outcome of the global gathering on artificial intelligence being held in the national capital.
A senior IT Ministry official said Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw is expected to address a press conference on Friday evening regarding the declaration, which is understood to be a non-binding pledge outlining shared goals for AI development.
Describing the development as a significant milestone, Vaishnaw on Thursday announced the New Delhi Frontier AI Commitments, a voluntary framework adopted by leading global and Indian AI companies. “Today, leading frontier AI companies along with our own AI companies have come together to make a set of voluntary commitments, a shared commitment for inclusive and shared AI,” he said.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026, being held from 16 to 21 February at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, has brought together heads of state, senior officials, policymakers and technology executives from across the world. The event aims to underline the growing geopolitical and economic importance of artificial intelligence, with discussions centred on governance, innovation, safety and equitable access.
In a parallel development, India on Friday formally joined Pax Silica, a flagship United States initiative focused on AI and supply chain security. India and the US signed the Pax Silica Declaration on the sidelines of the summit, a move described as a “historic milestone”.
The declaration underscores the need for resilient and reliable supply chains as integral to economic security and recognises AI as a transformative force for long-term prosperity. The twin announcements — the Delhi Declaration and India’s participation in Pax Silica are being viewed as steps towards building broader international consensus on responsible AI growth and strategic technology cooperation.
