Three people have been sent to jail for the gang rape of a Spanish tourist in Jharkhand. Authorities are still looking for four more suspects involved in the incident.

A horrifying incident has shaken Dumka district as a Spanish woman was allegedly gang-raped by a group of 8-10 men on Friday night. According to the FIR, the attackers put the victim through a terrifying experience, taking turns to hurt her and also physically attacking her husband, who was tied up during the incident.

In a video on social media early Sunday, the survivor expressed her profound fear, stating, "I thought they were going to kill me. Thank god I am still alive."

After prompt action by Dumka police, they have captured three suspects named Rajan Marandi, Pradeep Kisku, and Sukhlal Hembrom. They are in their twenties and come from Kunjo village under the jurisdiction of Hasdiha police station. These individuals, described as casual workers by officials, are currently under arrest. Meanwhile, efforts to find and arrest the other suspects are still underway.

In response to the distressing incident, both the Jharkhand State Legal Services (JHALSA) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have stepped in, providing separate teams to extend legal and other forms of assistance to the victim.

The victim and her husband, determined to seek justice, rode approximately 40 kilometers on bikes to reach Dumka hospital, where they received medical attention.

Subsequently, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by the police to investigate the assault. While significant details regarding the assault, injuries sustained, locations of arrests, and identities of the perpetrators remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.

The couple's statements have been recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC, the police said. Addressing a press conference, superintendent of police Pitamber Singh Kherwar said a medical test was conducted on the woman and it confirmed rape.

The incident has underscored concerns over the state of law and order in Jharkhand, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.
