Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast on Sunday, highlighted the significant expansion in the reach of government welfare schemes. He stated that nearly 95 crore people across the country are currently availing benefits under various social security schemes, a dramatic rise from less than 25 crore beneficiaries in 2015.
Modi emphasised the magnitude of this progress by quoting a recent International Labour Organisation (ILO) report. More than 64 per cent of Indians currently receive some kind of social protection benefit, according to the ILO report.

"Today, approximately 95 crore people in the country are receiving the benefit of some or the other social security scheme; whereas, until 2015, the government schemes were reaching less than 25 crore people," Modi said, referring to this as one of the largest social security coverages in the world.
According to him, the country is proceeding with a "saturation approach" to guarantee that programs pertaining to social protection, healthcare, and welfare programs are widely covered. He underlined that social justice ideals are reflected in these initiatives. Additionally, this is a fantastic illustration of social justice. These achievements have given people hope that the future will be even better and that India will only get stronger with each passing day," Modi continued.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration that India is free of trachoma, a communicable bacterial infection that has historically been a major cause of avoidable blindness, was another significant milestone that the prime minister acknowledged. He called this accomplishment a "remarkable milestone" and acknowledged the healthcare workforce's efforts in making it possible.
During his speech, Modi sent his warmest regards to all of the pilgrims taking part in the nation's numerous religious yatras. He praised the commitment of those in charge of planning and guaranteeing the security of these expeditions. "I also commend those who are working with a spirit of service to make these Yatras safe and successful," he said.
The Prime Minister noted that communities all throughout India are becoming "catalysts of change" and emphasised the rising awareness of environmental conservation. He claimed that their dedication to preserving nature not only saves the environment but also guarantees future generations will live in a sustainable way. Vietnamese people had expressed sincere gratitude to India for enabling the "darshan" of the relics of Bhagwan Buddha, Modi said as he wrapped up the broadcast. He described this act as a poignant reminder of the two countries' enduring and profound cultural ties.
