The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday reported near-complete participation in Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with documents received from 99.11 per cent of registered voters. Only 0.89 per cent of electors have yet to submit their details as the September 1 deadline approaches.
The Commission noted that the average daily collection rate stands at 1.64 per cent, aided by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and volunteers. “The document collection process is ongoing and is likely to be completed before the stipulated time, similar to the earlier collection of enumeration forms,” the ECI said.
Verification of submitted documents is being carried out simultaneously by 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 2,976 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) across Bihar, in accordance with SIR orders dated June 24.

Of the 7.24 crore electors listed in the draft rolls, only 0.16 per cent of claims and objections have been received so far. The ECI detailed that ten submissions came from Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties, none from non-electors in the respective constituencies, and 1,21,143 from electors within their own Assembly constituencies.
Additionally, a total of 3,28,847 new electors, who turned 18 on or before July 1, or will reach the age by October 1, have submitted Form 6 along with the necessary declarations.
“The SIR in Bihar is proceeding as scheduled. Decisions on all claims and objections, along with verification of eligibility documents, are to be completed by the concerned EROs and AEROs by September 25. The final electoral rolls will be published on September 30 after completion of final checks,” the Commission added.
