The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced on Monday that 200 crore transactions had been made through Aadhaar Face Authentication as of August 10, doubling from 100 crore in just six months.
Aadhaar holders can use the contactless authentication method anywhere, at any time, to safely and quickly confirm their identity without requiring paper documents.
According to UIDAI data, adoption is growing quickly; by mid-2024, 50 crore transactions had been recorded, and by January 2025, that number had increased to 100 crore. The system's scalability and increasing sectoral acceptance are highlighted by the most recent doubling to 200 crore.
“Reaching 200 crore Aadhaar Face Authentication transactions in such a short time underlines the trust and confidence that both residents and service providers have in Aadhaar’s secure, inclusive, and innovative authentication ecosystem,” UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said.

“From villages to metros, UIDAI is working with governments, banks, and service providers to make Aadhaar Face Authentication a success, giving every Indian the power to prove their identity instantly, securely, and anywhere.”
Services ranging from telecom and digital governance to banking and welfare programs use the face authentication system. According to UIDAI, by facilitating universal, paperless identity verification and bolstering the nation's digital infrastructure, the milestone embodies the fundamental goals of Digital India.
