AAP blames BJP for aiding Rohingya school admissions

Taking aim at the BJP for what it described as the party’s “two-faced politics”, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday levelled a serious accusation against the ruling party. AAP alleged that the BJP’s Karawal Nagar MLA had facilitated the admission of 10 Rohingya children into a Delhi government school.

AAP’s big accusation: BJP ‘facilitated’ Rohingya children into Delhi schools.

Calling the BJP’s so-called “double-engine” government hypocritical, AAP leader and MLA Anil Jha said, “The BJP has deprived Delhi’s children of their rights while covertly supporting the settlement of Rohingyas. First, Hardeep Singh Puri speaks of housing them in EWS flats, and now, BJP MLAs are helping them gain school admissions.”

AAP has demanded an investigation, accusing the BJP of prioritising Rohingyas over India’s Dalits, minorities, and the poor.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, Anil Jha criticised the Central Government’s policies, accusing it of double standards that he claimed were causing instability in Delhi and across the country.

“Information has emerged about the admission of around 10 Rohingya children in schools in Karawal Nagar, Delhi. BJP leaders often brand them as Bangladeshi infiltrators, yet their children are being admitted to Delhi schools. If my statement is incorrect, I challenge the Karawal Nagar MLA and Delhi government ministers to disprove it,” he stated.

The AAP MLA further questioned how the rights of Indian children were being overlooked to make room for Rohingya students. “Under what rule has this been allowed? On what basis have these admissions taken place?” he asked.

Anil Jha also highlighted a tweet by senior BJP leader and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in which he welcomed Rohingyas to India and announced their relocation from tents to EWS flats in Bakkarwala.

“Rather than focusing on India’s underprivileged, Dalits, and minority communities, they are discussing settlement and education for Rohingyas across Delhi and other parts of the country,” he said.

“While the BJP ignores the challenges faced by children living in unauthorised colonies and jhuggis in Delhi, it seems to be standing in favour of Rohingyas. AAP strongly opposes this,” asserted the MLA.

Anil Jha went on to say that securing India’s borders is the Central Government’s responsibility, which oversees the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Forces, and intelligence agencies. “Despite this, thousands of Rohingyas have reached Delhi and other NCR areas like Gurugram and Noida. Why is the Centre committed to settling them and allowing their children into schools here?” he questioned.

He added that Hardeep Puri’s statements reflect the Centre’s intent to provide housing and support to Rohingyas while Delhi continues to struggle with a large homeless population that lacks access to education and basic amenities.

“Even as Delhi’s poor remain without basic services, the Central Government appears more concerned with Rohingyas’ welfare. The AAP strongly condemns such misplaced priorities,” Jha said.

He called for a fair and transparent probe into the alleged admission of Rohingya children in Delhi schools. “The people deserve to know the truth,” he said.

Anil Jha concluded by stating that the BJP should focus on the education of Indian children from minority communities, Dalits, and those living in slums.

“Instead, they seem more inclined to support infiltrators like the Rohingyas. Why is the Centre adopting such a lenient approach?” he asked.
