The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for excluding Delhi’s tableau from the Republic Day parade for the fourth consecutive year.

AAP leader Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of indulging in "low-level dirty politics" and claimed that this decision reflected their bias against the people of Delhi.

Kakkar criticised the BJP for ignoring Delhi’s contributions and achievements, which she believes deserve a place in the Republic Day celebrations. She highlighted the state’s progress in areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.

Kakkar argued that despite Delhi having much to showcase, the BJP had consistently prevented its tableau from participating. She attributed this to the BJP’s resentment over repeated electoral losses in the capital.

BJP leader Parvesh Verma dismissed the allegations, suggesting that the AAP government was only making an issue out of the tableau exclusion because of the upcoming elections.

Verma explained that not all states get to participate in the parade every year and that selection depends on the quality of the proposed tableaux. He claimed that Kejriwal had never raised this issue in previous years, but was now doing so to gain political mileage ahead of the polls.

Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal publicly criticised the central government for sidelining Delhi’s tableau. Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal questioned the BJP’s vision for the people of Delhi, accusing the party of playing divisive politics.

He argued that as the nation’s capital, Delhi’s tableau should be a regular feature in the Republic Day parade and questioned the BJP’s intentions in excluding it year after year.

Kejriwal accused the BJP of having no substantive agenda for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, claiming that the party’s strategy revolved solely around attacking him and the AAP.

He said the BJP had failed to present any meaningful vision for the people of Delhi and questioned why the BJP deserved their votes if it continued to neglect the capital and its residents.

Amidst this political clash, Kejriwal announced two significant welfare initiatives for Delhi residents. Registration for the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana' and the 'Sanjeevani Yojana' is set to begin soon.

Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, women residing in Delhi will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,100 per month, with registrations opening from 23 December. These schemes aim to address pressing social and healthcare needs in the city.
