AAP leaders switch to BJP criticise Kejriwal government.

Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Balbir Singh and Sukhbir Dalal have become BJP members. The announcement was made when Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi general secretary Ashish Sood, and union minister Harsh Malhotra were present.

Hearing the protest, Balbir Singh, a six time member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee said that he quits this AAP government for this much while complaining in relation specially non appointing of Punjabi language teachers in the Government Schools.

He said that due to directions from Delhi Lacerate Governor V.K. Saxena to hire Punjabi teachers, nothing has been done for recruitment which has caused inconvenience to Sikh students. Singh expressed his concern over this matter, he said the AAP government was only trying to create delay on this matter.

He also thanked Union Minister Harsh Malhotra who Singh said is always available to attend to anybody’s issues. They want people who are ready to address the public by coming up with many potential queries, according to Malhotra’s act, which had impressed him to vote for the BJP.

Other key figures who left AAP to join BJP also criticised the party’s stye of functioning, including Sukhbir Dalal. He accused the party’s leadership of not fulfilling some of the many promises including establishment of a sports university which construction has been significantly delayed.

Dalal said that whilst the act for the university had been made, no further development had been made in the five years since and not even roads to the university had been built.

Nov 13, DALAL slammed AAP on management of the public fund and accused Kejriwal of forming lies to the public. He accused Kejriwal of deceiving people by claiming to enhance ₹2,100 crore funding for the university that added insult to injury.

Dalal clarified that it was not the election to the council that motivated him to switch to the BJP but the displeased actions by AAP.

He also criticised the exclusivity surrounding the Chief Minister’s residence, colloquially referred to as ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ Dalal claimed that access to the residence had been restricted since 2020, which he described as a stark departure from earlier practices.

He dismissed suggestions that his departure was motivated by personal grievances, asserting that his commitment to public service remains steadfast.

Dalal praised BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva for extending support to him in serving the people of Delhi, even when they belonged to opposing political parties.

The political shift comes as Delhi gears up for its Assembly elections, expected to take place in February 2025. AAP has already released its list of candidates, with prominent leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Gopal Rai among the names.

Kejriwal is set to contest from the New Delhi constituency, while Atishi will represent Kalkaji, Saurabh Bharadwaj Greater Kailash, and Gopal Rai Babarpur.

Other notable AAP candidates include Satyendra Kumar Jain contesting from Shakur Basti, Durgesh Pathak from Rajinder Nagar, Raghuvinder Shokeen from Nangloi Jat, Som Dutt from Sadar Bazar, Imran Hussain from Ballimaran, and Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar.
