The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that a meeting of its MLAs will take place on Tuesday morning to discuss the appointment of a new Chief Minister.
Following this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to tender his resignation, according to party sources.
Kejriwal is scheduled to meet Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, where he is anticipated to officially step down.
The meeting will be held at Kejriwal's official residence, as confirmed by the party.
This announcement comes days after Kejriwal was released on bail in connection with the excise policy case. On Sunday, he pledged to resign within 48 hours and called for early elections in Delhi.
He declared that he would not return to the chief minister's chair until he received a "certificate of honesty" from the people.
Kejriwal had previously indicated that he would step down and that a new party leader would assume the role of chief minister.
He also mentioned that he would return to office only upon a public endorsement of his integrity.
