The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recently made an important announcement regarding its candidate for the Najafgarh constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
The party revealed that social worker Tarun Yadav would be contesting the seat, adding a significant name to its list of candidates. Yadav, along with his wife Meena Yadav, who has previously served as an independent councillor for two terms, joined AAP just a few days ago.
The Najafgarh constituency, which was once held by Kailash Gahlot, a former Delhi minister, saw a change in leadership when Gahlot resigned from AAP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last month.
This shift created an opportunity for AAP to field a new candidate who could potentially carry forward the party's legacy in the region.
With the announcement of Tarun Yadav as their candidate, AAP has now revealed 32 of the 70 candidates for the upcoming elections. The party had earlier announced 11 candidates in its first list and 20 in its second.
This announcement is part of AAP’s strategy to maintain its strong position as the ruling party in Delhi, as it aims for a third consecutive term.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in February next year. AAP, under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is determined to continue its governance, which has seen substantial success in the last election, where it won 62 out of the 70 seats.
The upcoming polls will be a crucial test of the party’s popularity and its ability to secure another term in office.
