A tragic accident occurred in Mumbai's Kandivli when a car owned by popular Marathi actor Urmila Kothare ran over two labourers working on a Metro project. One labourer died on the spot, while the other sustained serious injuries.
The incident happened late Friday night as the actor was heading home after finishing a shoot. According to the police, the car's driver lost control near the Poisar Metro station, causing the vehicle to hit the workers. The driver and the actor were also injured in the crash.
Police reports confirm that the car was moving at high speed at the time of the accident. Thankfully, the airbag deployed in time, saving the actor from major injuries.
The driver, who sustained severe injuries, has been charged under sections related to rash driving and causing death by negligence. The surviving labourer is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
