Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of India, has embarked on a four-day official visit to Indonesia from December 15 to 18, 2024.

This visit is part of the ongoing efforts to reinforce the growing bilateral defence relations between the two nations, reflecting their deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

A key focus of the visit is to strengthen naval cooperation between India and Indonesia, particularly in the realm of maritime security.

During his visit, Admiral Tripathi is scheduled to hold crucial discussions with high-ranking Indonesian government and defence officials.

These include Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (retd), the Defence Minister of Indonesia, General Agus Subiyanto, the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, and Admiral Muhammad Ali, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy.

The talks are expected to cover a wide range of topics within the defence sector, with a special emphasis on enhancing maritime security, collaborative training efforts, and exploring new avenues to bolster the operational relationship between the two navies.

This visit highlights the strong maritime partnership between India and Indonesia, which aligns with the shared vision of India-Indonesia Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Both countries have consistently worked together to improve their maritime capabilities, as evidenced by joint naval exercises, coordinated patrols, and port visits, all aimed at strengthening mutual ties and increasing operational synergy.

One of the key ongoing initiatives between the two navies is the 43rd India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol, which is currently taking place from December 10 to 18 along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

This coordinated patrol underscores the ongoing commitment of both countries to safeguarding their maritime interests and maintaining peace and stability in the region.
