The Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva launched a health camp in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Monday, aiming to deliver advanced medical care to underserved regions through mobile specialist teams from top government medical institutions.
The four-day health initiative, which began after a gap of over one-and-a-half years, will continue through Thursday. It aims to supplement existing facilities at the district headquarters hospital and offer high-quality tertiary healthcare services.
Following the Nabarangpur camp, similar outreach efforts will be rolled out in Nuapada and Malkangiri districts in a phased manner, officials said.
Ahead of the camp, around 938 patients across the district were screened by the local health team. Their medical reports will now be reviewed by specialists to determine further treatment.
On the first day of the programme, five senior residents from SCB Medical College conducted advanced diagnostic procedures, including echocardiography and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, and prepared for scheduled surgeries.
The medical personnel included Dr Biswajit Sahoo (Urology), Dr Sumeet Kumar Sahu (Cardiology), Dr Lipika Panigrahi (Nephrology), Dr Rashmi Ranjan Patra (Gastroenterology), and Dr Rakesh Kumar Mohanty (Neurology).
On Tuesday, the second day of the camp, six senior experts are scheduled to perform surgeries, offer consultations in various super-specialities, and prescribe medications that will be distributed free of cost to patients.
The guest Doctors attending this event were Dr Sabyasachi Panda (Urology), Dr Jasobanta Behera (Cardiology), Dr Aruna Acharya (Nephrology), Dr Samir Kumar Hota (Gastroenterology), Dr Nihar Ranjan Biswal (Neurology), and Dr Debarchana Jena (Endocrinology).
The district administration did arrange all necessary logistics, including transportation, accommodation, food, campsite setup, tents, drinking water, tea, and snacks for both medical teams and patients.
