The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to several individuals, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa president Amit Palekar, in relation to the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Alongside Palekar, Ramarao Wagh, Datta Prasad Naik, and Ashok Naik, the president of Bhandari Samaj, have also been summoned for investigation tomorrow.
However, AAP sources have refuted these claims, asserting that Datta Prasad Naik and Ashok Naik are not AAP leaders but belong to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They accused the ED of spreading falsehoods and criticized its actions as a political tool wielded by the BJP.
In a related development, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the ED on a petition filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest and the ED remand granted by the trial court. While refusing immediate relief, the court fixed the matter for April 3, emphasizing that any release order would amount to granting bail or interim bail to Kejriwal.
Additionally, the Delhi High Court is set to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of Arvind Kejriwal from the position of Chief Minister of the Government of NCT of Delhi on Thursday. The bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora is scheduled to hear the case.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case, which is linked to a money laundering investigation. He was remanded to the ED custody until March 28. The case revolves around alleged irregularities and money laundering associated with the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy in 2022, which was subsequently annulled.
