Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch India’s first Vande Metro service on his upcoming visit to Gujarat. The new Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro will mark a significant milestone in India's rail transport infrastructure. This service will introduce a new level of convenience for passengers travelling between these two cities.
The Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro is a fully air-conditioned, unreserved train designed to enhance passenger comfort. Unlike reserved services, passengers can purchase tickets shortly before departure, making it a flexible travel option. With a total capacity of over 3,000 passengers, including 2,058 standing and 1,150 sitting spots, the train aims to cater to a wide range of commuters.
Covering a distance of 360 kilometres, the Vande Metro will travel at a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour, ensuring a swift journey. The entire trip from Bhuj to Ahmedabad is expected to take approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes. The train will make stops at nine stations along the route, providing accessibility to various regions.
The Vande Metro concept is built on the success of the Vande Bharat semi-high-speed trains. It features fully air-conditioned coaches and advanced safety systems, including the 'KAVACH' anti-collision technology. This reflects a broader initiative to modernise India's rail services with state-of-the-art amenities and improved safety features.
During his visit to Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi will also be inaugurating several significant development projects worth Rs. 8,000 crores. This includes the launch of the second phase of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro rail service, which will further enhance urban connectivity in the region.
Additionally, Modi will attend the 4th edition of the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar.
This visit marks an important step in the government's commitment to boosting infrastructure and promoting sustainable energy initiatives. The inauguration of the Vande Metro service and other projects signifies ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation and economic development in Gujarat.
