Local economy thrives with ₹69000 crore festival sales.

The Ahmedabad Shopping Festival has once again proven its significance as a major cultural and economic event, achieving record-breaking sales of over ₹69,000 crore in October 2024.

With a remarkable 20.5 per cent growth in revenue compared to the same period last year, the festival is shaping Ahmedabad as a premier destination for shopping and tourism.

The festival, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and launched in 2019, celebrates the city’s rich heritage while supporting local businesses and artisans.

This year, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the festival on Dussehra, October 12, 2024.

Organised in collaboration with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Government of Gujarat, the festival spans 95 days, divided into three phases, with the first phase running from October 12 to November 1, 2024.

The vibrant celebration has already drawn over 20 lakh visitors in its initial phase, showcasing its cultural and commercial appeal.

The festival covers major shopping districts such as Sindhu Bhavan Road, CG Road, Nikol Modern Street, and Kankaria Rambag Road, along with 14 popular hotspots, including iconic locations like Sabarmati Riverfront, Manek Chowk, and Science City.

Renowned malls like Ahmedabad One and Palladium Mall have also participated, enhancing the city’s reputation as a shopping haven.

The festival aims to uplift Gujarat’s business community by promoting local products, handcrafted goods, and modern innovations.

Visitors are treated to a wide range of offerings, from daily essentials to rare artefacts, along with engaging cultural performances, fashion shows, and flea markets. Vibrant light displays, selfie points, music festivals, and magic shows add to the festival’s charm, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

Exciting initiatives such as maximum discounts, lucky draws, coupons, and attractive prizes have further enriched the shopping experience, significantly boosting the revenue of participating stores.

Areas like CG Road saw a 12-15 per cent increase in sales across 30-40 stores, reflecting the festival’s impact. The decorative lighting and festive ambience have drawn crowds in large numbers, with Ahmedabad One Mall alone attracting 3.6 lakh visitors during the first phase.
