An Air India Express flight scheduled to travel from Vijayawada to Bengaluru was cancelled on Thursday due to a bird strike. According to a report by a media house, an eagle collided with the aircraft's nose while it was in the process of taxiing for takeoff.
The incident occurred on the runway before the flight was able to depart. Following the bird strike, the airline made the decision to cancel the flight and provided alternative travel arrangements for all affected passengers.
This event follows a similar incident just two days prior. On Tuesday morning, a Nagpur-Kolkata IndiGo flight had to make a precautionary return to the Nagpur airport shortly after takeoff due to a suspected bird strike. An official said that the plane, which had between 160 and 165 passengers on board, was forced to turn back as a safety measure. That flight was also subsequently cancelled.
