Air India and IndiGo planes encountered a mishap at the Mumbai airport on Tuesday when their wingtips came in contact on the taxiway, prior to takeoff.
Both aircraft were grounded for checks after the incident, and all passengers are safe, while aviation regulator DGCA’s team is at the site to probe the incident, a Civil Aviation Ministry spokesperson said.
The situation involved two Airbus A320 aircraft, said officials, adding that the Air India plane was waiting on the taxiway prior to takeoff, while the IndiGo aircraft was taxiing after landing. Both taxiways are parallel, they said, and returned to bay for inspections.
