Starlink may enter India as Airtel signs MoU with SpaceX.

Airtel has entered into an agreement with SpaceX to introduce Starlink’s satellite internet services in India. However, the deal is subject to regulatory approval from Indian authorities before SpaceX can officially offer Starlink in the country.

The partnership aims to explore various ways in which Airtel and SpaceX can collaborate. Airtel may sell Starlink hardware in its retail stores and offer the service to businesses.

Additionally, both companies are looking at using Starlink to connect rural schools, healthcare centers, and remote regions with limited internet access. The agreement also includes discussions on how Starlink could enhance Airtel’s network and how SpaceX could leverage Airtel’s infrastructure in India.

Airtel already collaborates with Eutelsat OneWeb for satellite internet services. By adding Starlink, the telecom giant hopes to extend connectivity to underserved areas and provide high-speed internet solutions to businesses and communities in remote locations.

Airtel’s Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Gopal Vittal, called the collaboration a "significant milestone" in satellite connectivity. He highlighted that Starlink would complement Airtel’s existing services, ensuring reliable and affordable broadband access across India.

Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, expressed enthusiasm about working with Airtel, emphasizing the transformative impact of Starlink in bridging India’s digital divide.

She acknowledged Airtel’s crucial role in India's telecom landscape and stated that this partnership aligns well with SpaceX’s vision for global connectivity.
