NCP Ajit Pawar Announces Second Candidate List For Maharashtra Polls. Baba Siddique's Son Zeeshan Fielded From Bandra.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, set for November 20, 2024. With this new lineup, NCP aims to strengthen its presence across key constituencies.

Among the notable candidates is Sana Malik, daughter of NCP leader Nawab Malik, who contested from the Anushakti Nagar constituency. Malik’s candidacy highlights the NCP’s strategy to bring fresh faces and continue its legacy in the Maharashtra elections.

Joining Malik in this lineup is Zeeshan Siddiqui, who was selected to represent Bandra East. Siddiqui, who recently joined the NCP, expressed gratitude to key NCP leaders Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, and Sunil Tatkare for their support.

Speaking on the occasion, Siddiqui emphasised his commitment to winning the Bandra East seat with the backing of his community and supporters. His addition signals NCP’s intent to attract young leaders who resonate with the local electorate.

The NCP’s second list also includes former BJP leaders Nishikant Patil, set to contest from Islampur, and Sanjaykaka Ramchandra Patil, chosen for the Tasgaon-Kavathe Mahankal constituency. Both leaders joined the NCP in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Nishikant Patil, upon receiving his nomination, acknowledged the necessity of joining the NCP as the Islampur seat had been designated for the party. Patil voiced confidence in his chances, expressing a commitment to securing the constituency under the NCP banner.

Sanjaykaka Patil, a former Member of Parliament, explained his shift to the NCP, noting that his current district seats, including Tasgaon and Islampur, were allocated to the NCP under the Mahayuti alliance.

Patil’s entry into the NCP reflects the evolving alliances in Maharashtra politics, where leaders are strategically aligning with parties to strengthen their electoral reach.

Additional prominent candidates announced by NCP include Sunil Tingre for Vadgaon Sheri, Dnyaneshwar (Mauli) Katke for Shirur, and Pratap Patil Chikhlikar for the Iron constituency. These nominations underscore NCP’s focus on experienced leaders who can leverage their regional influence to boost the party’s standing in the election.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are a significant test for the NCP and its allies as they prepare to contest the 288 constituencies in the state. The results, which will be declared on November 23, 2024, will reveal the public’s support for the NCP’s candidates and its broader alliance strategy.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress took 44 seats, while in 2014, BJP held 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42. With NCP's fresh lineup and strategic moves, the party aims to make a substantial impact in this year’s elections.
