Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party leader, has called for immediate judicial intervention to ensure the safety of the Ayodhya rape victim. On Sunday, he took to social media to urge the court to provide protection for the victim, highlighting the case's sensitivity and severity.
In his post on X, Yadav emphasised the importance of securing top-notch medical care for the victim, stressing that the government bears the responsibility of safeguarding her life. He appealed to the court to take suo moto cognizance of the situation and supervise measures to ensure the victim’s safety, given the gravity of the case.
Yadav condemned any attempts to politicise such tragic events, underscoring that these incidents should not become tools for political gain. He stated, "The malicious intent of certain individuals to politicise such incidents should never succeed."
His remarks followed a call from Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad for a DNA test in the gang rape case involving a minor girl. Yadav supported this demand, insisting that DNA tests should be conducted on the accused to ensure justice. He pointed out that justice should not be based solely on accusations or political rhetoric but on concrete evidence.
Yadav's comments also included a demand for accountability. He stated, “Whoever is guilty should be given full punishment according to the law, but if the allegations are proven false after the DNA test, then the government officials involved should also not be spared. This is the demand for justice.”
In response to the allegations, the Ayodhya district administration took significant action by demolishing the illegally constructed bakery of Moeed Khan, a Samajwadi Party leader and the primary accused in the case. SDM Ashok Kumar announced that the bakery was sealed and demolition proceedings were underway due to its illegal status.
The district administration also dismantled a boundary wall built around a pond, which was deemed illegal. These actions were part of the administrative response to the serious accusations against Khan and his house help, who allegedly raped and blackmailed a 12-year-old girl employed at Khan’s residence in Ayodhya.
Khan was arrested on Thursday for his involvement in the rape case, which reportedly occurred over the past two months. He and his house help faced allegations of threatening the victim’s family to settle the case, prompting the administration to take swift action.
The situation has drawn considerable attention, with calls for justice and protection for the victim continuing to grow. Akhilesh Yadav's public statements reflect the urgency and seriousness of the case, as well as the broader demand for fair and thorough handling of such sensitive matters.
