In view of the inclement weather conditions on the Yatra routes, as a precautionary measure, the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra convoy will not move from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on 31st July. Earlier it was decided by the authorities to suspend Yatra for day due to incessant rains in the region.
Jammu, which is the base camp of Yatra has been witnessing heavy rains contunously which has hampered movement of yatries converging there before embarking on the pilgrimage to Kashmir Valley. The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 9 .However, it has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
“Due to the heavy rains over in the Yatra area, the movement of pilgrims from Base camps has been affected. Therefore, it has been decided that no convoy movement shall be allowed towards the base camps Baltal and Nunwan from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu on 31st July, 2025. Pilgrims shall be kept informed about the situation in due course of time”, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar said.
So far, over 3.935 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025.As a precautionary measure, the ongoing Amarnath Yatra was suspended on Wednesday and pilgrims not been allowed to proceed on the tracks from both the sides i.e. Pahalgam and Baltal due to inclement weather, officials informed.
Pilgrims shall be kept informed about the situation in due course of time, the officials said adding that these decisions are being taken to avoid any untoward incident due to weather. The pilgrims have been expressing happiness and satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration at every camp besides comprehensive security cover at every step of yatra. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation with regard to weather changes.
Located at an altitude of 3,888 metres in South Kashmir, the holy Amarnath shrine draws thousands of devotees every year. Pilgrims take the 14-kilometre Baltal route or the less steep and traditional 48-kilometre Pahalgam route for their pilgrimage.
