Union Home Minister Amit Shah stresses on cooperative reforms, crackdown on paper mafia in Rajasthan.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, during a large public gathering in Dadiya near Jaipur on Thursday, praised the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led Rajasthan government for its initiatives and underlined the Centre’s decisive approach on issues like national security, examination paper leaks, and cooperative sector reforms.

Addressing the crowd, Shah recalled the challenges Rajasthan had faced in the past due to repeated incidents of paper leaks. “Rajasthan was deeply troubled by the menace of paper leaks,” he said. “The formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Bhajan Lal government has sent a strong and clear message to those involved in the mafia.”

On matters of national security, Shah pointed to the sharp contrast between the earlier Congress rule and the BJP-led Centre. “Terrorist attacks were common during Congress’s tenure. But under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India responded with strength,” he said. “Under Operation Sindoor, Indian forces crossed the border into Pakistan and destroyed terrorist bases. Similar decisive responses were given after the Uri and Pulwama attacks.”

Turning to local issues, Shah mentioned the Centre’s commitment to preserving Rajasthan’s heritage and biodiversity, particularly its iconic camel population. “Efforts are underway to conserve camel breeds, and research is being conducted to explore the medicinal properties of camel milk through cooperative initiatives,” he said. Due to inclement weather, Shah, who landed at Jaipur Airport around 12:15 pm, had to cancel his helicopter travel plans and instead made his way to Dadiya by road.

Upon reaching the venue, the Home Minister flagged off 100 newly inducted police vehicles, toured an exhibition showcasing cooperative products, and distributed appointment letters to young individuals selected for government jobs. In his speech, Shah also elaborated on the strides being made in the cooperative sector.

“We are in the process of establishing two lakh new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the country. Of these, 40,000 have already been set up and fully computerised,” he said. “Alongside this, new warehouses are being constructed, and several new cooperative committees have been formed to promote activities such as seed production and distribution.”

He emphasised the crucial role cooperatives have played in India’s growth over the past century and expressed confidence in their importance for the country’s future. “The Modi government created a separate Ministry of Cooperation to ensure that the cooperative movement reaches every farmer and poor citizen in India,” Shah said. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, also present at the event, announced that job recruitment advertisements for 28,000 new posts would soon be released. “So far, we’ve provided employment to 75,000 youth, and recruitment is ongoing for an additional two lakh posts,” he noted.

He further outlined welfare initiatives such as the Gopalak Yojana, which offers interest-free loans of up to ₹1 lakh, and announced the inauguration of 24 new grain warehouses across the state. The programme began on a patriotic note, with enthusiastic chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” led by Amit Shah himself, setting the tone for a day focused on governance, security, and grassroots development.
