Shah credited Yoga as India's gift to humanity, now widely accepted worldwide. He mentioned that over one crore people practised Yoga that day. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Yoga is India’s gift to humanity and the world. Today, more than one crore people practised Yoga. PM Modi played a very big role in providing a big platform for Yoga. Yoga reflects the essence of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

 

In a post on X, Shah called Yoga a “precious gift” of Indian culture and praised PM Modi for making it a subject of global consciousness through International Yoga Day. He wrote, “Sarve santu niramaya...Yoga is a precious gift of Indian culture, which Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiji has made a subject of global consciousness through International Yoga Day. Today the whole world is not only celebrating Yoga Day, but has also accepted yoga as an integral part of daily lifestyle. Practised yoga at Gothila Garden (Ahmedabad) on the occasion of International Yoga Day.”

 

Several other ministers also participated in various Yoga events across the country. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari performed Yoga in Nagpur, while Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal participated in Mumbai.

 

Goyal praised PM Modi’s efforts, stating, “The way PM Modi encouraged the whole world towards Yoga, its effect can be seen all over the country and the world. In North Mumbai, it was pouring down heavily. Thousands of people came out and performed Yoga.”

 

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav practised Yoga at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande and Indian Army personnel, performed Yoga in Mathura. Singh expressed his pride, saying, “I would like to extend my wishes on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2024. It is being celebrated throughout the world with great fervour. It is a matter of pride that the world has adopted this cultural heritage. The reason for its popularity is that it has become a symbol of a healthy lifestyle.”

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations of the 10th International Day of Yoga at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.

 

Since 2015, Modi has led International Day of Yoga celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

 

The widespread participation in Yoga Day events underscores the global acceptance and significance of Yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering international unity.

 

The continued efforts of the Indian government, particularly under the leadership of PM Modi, have significantly contributed to making Yoga a global phenomenon, celebrated and practised by millions around the world.
