Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in a high-level meeting held in the national capital. This meeting comes in response to recent terrorist attacks in the region, which have heightened concerns about security.

During the meeting, Shah directed officials to convene another detailed meeting on June 16 to further assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and to review preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) briefed the Home Minister about the current security measures and their preparedness to handle such terror attacks.

The upcoming June 16 meeting will be attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the National Security Advisor, the Union Home Secretary, and senior officers from the Army, police, Jammu and Kashmir administration, and the MHA.

The focus is on ensuring the safety of residents in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra, while maintaining law and order in the state.

Since June 9, there have been a series of terror strikes in the Reasi, Kathua, and Doda areas, resulting in the deaths of nine pilgrims and one CRPF jawan. Additionally, a civilian was injured, and at least seven security personnel were hurt. These incidents have underscored the need for heightened vigilance and robust security measures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also chaired a high-level meeting on Thursday to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the recent terror-related incidents.

This meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials, who provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region. The Prime Minister was briefed on the strategies and operations being implemented to combat terrorist activities and ensure the region's safety.

In his discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah, PM Modi emphasised the importance of deploying adequate security forces and continuing counter-terror operations. He also spoke with J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to review the situation and was briefed on the efforts being undertaken by the local administration.

The increased focus on security in Jammu and Kashmir reflects the government's commitment to addressing the threats posed by terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and pilgrims. The upcoming meetings and reviews are expected to result in enhanced security measures and a coordinated approach to counter-terrorism in the region.

As the situation continues to evolve, the government remains vigilant and proactive in its efforts to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. The collaboration between various security agencies and the administration is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by terrorism and ensuring the safety of the region's residents and visitors.
