Union Home Minister Amit Shah will embark on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh from 14th to 16th December. His visit will focus on assessing the state’s security situation and engaging with key stakeholders to address pressing challenges in the region.

During his visit, Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting in Raipur, the state’s capital. The discussion is expected to centre on the prevailing security landscape, especially related to Left-Wing Extremism and strategies to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing operations.

This meeting highlights the central government’s focus on ensuring peace and development in Chhattisgarh.

A key event of Shah’s itinerary will be presenting the prestigious President’s Police Colours to the Chhattisgarh Police. This honour recognises the force's dedication and service to maintaining law and order in the state.

In addition to the activities in Raipur, the Home Minister will travel to Jagdalpur, a city at the heart of the Bastar region. There, he will engage with surrendered Maoists, residents, and intellectuals to understand their perspectives and concerns.

He is also scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of the Bastar Olympics, an event that celebrates local traditions and fosters unity among the communities of the region.

Shah will pay tribute to martyrs in Jagdalpur, honouring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against extremism. He will also meet the families of victims affected by Left-Wing Extremism, offering support and reassurance.

His itinerary includes visits to security camps, where he will oversee ongoing developmental works and interact with personnel stationed in these challenging areas. Sharing a meal with security forces will further underline his commitment to their welfare.

This visit is part of the government’s broader strategy to address security challenges while promoting growth and inclusivity in the region. The focus on both security and development underscores a holistic approach to tackling extremism and fostering stability.

Earlier this week, Chief Minister Sai held a meeting on anti-Naxal operations at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur. Accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, he met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss strategies for combating extremism.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s determination to fight Naxalism, emphasising the significant progress made in recent years.

Sai highlighted the improvements in the Bastar region, noting the strengthened resolve of security forces under his government’s leadership. He stated that consistent review meetings have ensured that the fight against Naxalism remains focused and effective.

The Chief Minister expressed optimism about the state’s efforts to establish lasting peace and development in the region.
