Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’ on September 14. This initiative aims to promote the use of Indian languages alongside Hindi and to foster better coordination between them. The event will be part of the official language Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan organised by the Department of Official Language.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations mark 75 years of Hindi being designated as the official language. The Home Ministry’s Department of Official Language, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, proposed the creation of ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’ to enhance the use and coordination of Indian languages.
During the event, Shah will also launch the Diamond Jubilee Special Issue of ‘Rajbhasha Bharti’ magazine, along with a commemorative postage stamp and coin. Additionally, the Home Minister will present the Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti Awards and release several new books and magazines.
Since 2021, the Official Language Department has organised the Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan annually. The first event was held in Varanasi, followed by Surat in 2022 and Pune in 2023. These gatherings have invigorated the Official Language community.
This year’s conference in Delhi is particularly significant as it celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of Hindi’s official status. Over two days, the Sammelan will feature discussions on the progress of Hindi as an official language and its cultural impact.
Sessions will cover topics such as the role of dictionaries in language teaching, the impact of the Devanagari script, and the contribution of technology to Hindi implementation.
The conference will also include a discussion on recent legislative developments like the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023, with Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal addressing these topics. Renowned actor Anupam Kher and filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi will discuss the role of Indian cinema in promoting Hindi.
More than 10,000 participants, including Rajbhasha officials, Hindi scholars, and senior Central government officials, are expected to attend the event.
