The Home Minister is expected to take stock of the overall security scenario, and strengthen collaboration among agencies to maintain peace and stability in the Jammu and Kashmir. While security review meetings are a routine at the level of Ministry of Home Affairs, post Operation Sindhoor these assume significance for several reasons. In tomorrow's meeting discussions are expected to cover several critical security issues.
Apart from reviewing overall security situation across the Union Territory, Home Minister will take stock of current security situation in the Pir Panjal region. Besides, security agencies are going to share inputs with regard to status of anti-terror operations in the area. Apparently, the key focus area of the meeting will remain enhancing coordination and synergy between various security agencies to maintain peace and stability as also strengthening efforts to counter cross-border infiltration.
Tomorrow's security review meeting also assumes importance in the backdrop of assessment of emerging threats, including the new alliance between Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Islamic State Khorasan Province, and devising counter-strategies. Intelligence inputs suggest over 120 terrorists are waiting at launchpads across the Line of Control to infiltrate the region. Pertinently, security forces recently initiated a search operation in the Rajouri area, where an encounter with terrorists took place. Two army commandos were also reported missing in a forest in South Kashmir as of October 8.
