Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be present at the 50th anniversary celebrations of India's iconic dairy brand, Amul, tomorrow.

PM Modi is expected to grace the grand event at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, marking a significant milestone for the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).

Founded in 1973 with a modest turnover of Rs 20 crore, GCMMF has emerged as a leading player in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

The Amul brand is projected to reach a remarkable Rs 80,000 crore turnover this year, while the federation itself targets Rs 61,000 crore, demonstrating its financial strength and brand recognition.

The event will be a gathering of prominent figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Animal Husbandry Minister Parshottam Rupala, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, highlighting the national significance of Amul's achievements.

Key prospects of tomorrow’s event:

  • PM Modi to inaugurate five new dairy projects worth Rs 1,200 crore. These include a modern cheese plant, long-life milk plant, chocolate plant expansion, and an ice cream plant, reflecting Amul's continuous growth and diversification.

  • Over 1.25 lakh dairy farmers to attend, representing 18,600 villages. Notably, 40-45% of attendees are women, showcasing Amul's commitment to women empowerment in the rural sector.

  • Discussions on GCMMF's vision for the next 25 years. Future expansion plans and investment strategies are expected to be unveiled, charting Amul's course for the coming decades.

  • Planned investments of Rs 11,500 crore to bolster dairy infrastructure. Focus on processing and collection systems, along with establishing modern plants across India, signifies Amul's ambitious growth trajectory.
