A video of Reliance Industries’ scion, Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, has gained widespread popularity among animal lovers.
Anant, who has established the world’s largest rescue facility, Vantara, in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, rescued 250 chickens in an impromptu act of kindness. The poultry, which was being transported to a slaughterhouse, was saved when Anant intervened.
A devoted follower of Lord Krishna, Anant embarked on a padyatra, walking over 90 kilometres from the Reliance Refinery in Jamnagar to Devbhumi Dwarka. Dwarka, located on India’s westernmost coast, is believed to be the ancient kingdom of Lord Krishna. For Anant, the Jamnagar refinery—where Vantara is also located—feels like his primary home, as he spends most of his time there rather than in Mumbai.
He began his pilgrimage five days ago and has already covered over 60 kilometres. During his journey today, while walking with his associates, he noticed a truck carrying caged chickens.
On seeing the vehicle, Anant immediately stopped it and, upon closer inspection, opened one of the cages, holding a chicken in his hands. He became visibly emotional at the plight of the birds. Without hesitation, he instructed his associate to purchase all the chickens from the driver and release them.
Anant intends to complete his journey on foot and offer prayers at the Dwarkadhish temple on his upcoming birthday on 10th April. As he walks, he is often heard chanting ‘Jai Dwarkadhish’ and participating in bhajans with his companions.
