On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences following a tragic reactor blast at a pharmaceutical company in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh. The explosion, which occurred at Atchutapuram, resulted in at least three deaths and left around 17 others injured.

 

President Murmu conveyed her deep sorrow over the incident and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. She also wished for the quick recovery of those who were injured.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences, stating his anguish over the loss of lives. In a statement, the Prime Minister expressed his sorrow and confirmed that an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh would be provided to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

 

Additionally, the injured will receive ₹50,000 each. Modi’s office assured that the government is taking all necessary measures to support the affected families and address the situation.

 

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has called for a high-level inquiry into the incident. He plans to visit the families of the victims and the injured on Thursday.

 

Naidu's response underscores the seriousness of the incident and the government's commitment to addressing the aftermath comprehensively.

 

Andhra Minister Vasamsetti Subhash provided an update on the ongoing rescue operations. According to Subhash, rescue teams are facing challenges due to dense smoke, which has hindered their access to the site.

 

The full extent of the casualties and the number of people potentially trapped inside the facility remain unclear. Efforts are being made to reach those still in danger, and further updates are expected as the situation progresses.
